First Flush!

So apparently the strike is suspended but the GJM aren't going to allow the delivery of the first batch of the season's tea harvest.

The 'first flush' of Darjeeling's finest is the most sought after tea harvest in the world market and accounts for upto 25% of the annual tea production in the hills.

The good news is that I might be able to go Darjeeling in the next couple of weeks. The bad news is obviously the damage to the local economy. But more good news is that there might be a great deal of surplus high grade tea floating around when I get up there :d

FIRST POST!

Hmmm... Not good news for a first post. There's an indefinite strike for protests so I'm stuck

Basically much of the native hillside populous would like a separate 'Gorkhaland' but the West Bengali government isn't really up for it. If you want to know more this article is pretty informative: http://www.frontline.in/stories/20110311280502800.htm

My internet time's up so I'm off
Bye :)
